I absolutely love my job, teaching two- and three-year-olds at an English-immersion Montessori school. This job is absolutely perfect at this point in my life. There is great joy to be had in working with young children. That being said, sometimes it can also be a great struggle. My days are filled with ups and downs and the weeks just fly by.
One particular, consistent "down" has been trying to get one student to fall asleep. The rest of the students go to sleep more or less without any great struggle, but he - Little D - fights with with everything he has! However, today his shirt was soaked (from brushing his teeth!!) and so we took it off him and hung it up to dry. Little D was distraught at having to nap without his sopping wet shirt, despite the fact he has a blanket. So I held him and this troubled napper fell asleep in about five minutes flat!
